ZONE CONFERENCE - GOING BY THE SPIRIT

Sorry about the wait. Yesterday was busy for us and we couldn't email. We made it to the library twice, but the wait was too long ha-ha. Elder Jensen got an ingrown toenail taken out yesterday...nasty...then we went Golfing. Not the 18 hole course and we didn’t play it last week either, so I’m not going to tell you guys ahead of time anymore when it happens it happens ha-ha. But we had fun golfing though I played pretty good.PUTTIN' AROUND P-DAY 6/28
Well investigator wise, it was better than last week, but still a lot of investigators not showing up to appointments...I don’t know what it is, but we're fighting through it and working harder to overcome this "drought" ha-ha. We were tracting this week and had a cool experience...we knocked and a guy came out and talked to us like he's talked to us before, but said that he would listen. So we asked him questions and he sounded pretty set in his ways, and what he told us sounded like what we believe, so I forgot what we said or asked, but somehow when we finished talking to him he was like, "You know what, I would like to talk to y'all more, come over Tuesday night I’ll give you 30 minutes”. All I can say is the Holy Ghost is amazing! Both of us were like how did we just do that? So tonight is going to be great! Oh and the Martinez family, we set a date for Kimberly and Samantha on July 10th! Kim has been interviewed already and she's ready to go! So we're stoked for her and Sam, (Sam is 8, so she'll be interview by the Bishop) and we're hoping from this that Ted (dad) will feel the spirit and want to get into it more being a non-member. We had a great Zone Conference! It was all on the spirit and how we can better teach by it and learn how to "get out of the way" of the spirit doing its work. It was a great zone conference. I learned a lot about recognizing and going by the Spirit and getting out of the way and letting the Spirit do its thing, ya know ha-ha. President Cotterell and the assistants did a great job, but of course, the Spirit did its job for sure.

Well family, I miss and love each of y'all! Hope all is going well. I know this Church is true and this work is amazing! The Spirit is central to everything we do. How we live, teach and learn. Book of Mormon is true and it’s the foundation of our testimony, testifying to the world that Jesus is the Christ and his birth, ministry and resurrection is real. I love you and take care!

NEW COMPANION

I am pretty sure and confident that we're playing the main 18 holes today on our P-Day. I was talking to the Sister's and confirm today last night and asked if we were meeting at the 9 hole course of the main, and they wouldn’t answer and said it's a surprise! So...they best not be trying to pull something on me ha-ha. Either way we're golfing today. it’s been HOT this week, Tuesday was the worst day this year so far, we were sweating like crazy and just burning up on the humidity this week, nasty stuff for sure.

So investigator wise...ha-ha...not great this week. We had about 10 lessons planned for this week and only 2 of them actually kept it or showed up. So it was a difficult week, but Elder Jensen(info below) and I talked about it and we decided it can’t get worse than this, but can only get better. So we're both confident about this up coming week to work hard and find those who will keep appointments and commitments.

So new companion is Elder Derek Jensen, he is from..TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, that's right, the Ville! We went to the same high school, and we're pretty sure we were in each other’s Seminary class my junior year and same Spanish class my sophomore year. Small world huh?? Well he has been out 21 months ha-ha, so this is his last area and hopefully I’ll be able to "kill" him off the mission (be his last companion before he leaves the mission field to go home). We are doing AWESOME together. We are stoked to work hard and feel like missionaries, and we definitely did this week! And random story, A Polynesian member was in the ward yesterday just visiting from Utah while working. He went to Hunter High School and actually played for Coach Henderson there! Crazy huh! I guess Matt Asiata (plays for U of U who did play for Hunter High) married his sister or something like that, but we had a connection with Coach Henderson though ha-ha. Another small world.

STAYING IN RALEIGH AT LEAST 6 MORE WEEKS

Well this week has been up and down ha-ha. We played golf last p-day again. It was fun, still haven’t played the main 18 holes at TPC yet, but hopefully I will when I’m here. Well Black Saturday came and we didn’t survive. Elder Worsley will be getting transferred. So tomorrow I will be getting a new companion. Always a fun time ha-ha. It rained HARD yesterday for like 30 minutes randomly, and it so happened when Brother Green was picking us up ha-ha. And while we were talking to Shante, the LOUDEST thunder I have ever heard, and it was like 10 seconds long ha-ha, scared me!
THE RALEIGH DISTRICT 6/9

We had a good lesson with the Martinez family on Tuesday night. We didn’t set a date, because they were still thinking about when they could do it, so hopefully next time. We found a new investigator named Shante. We saw her twice this week and she is pretty solid right now. She understood the first lesson when we went over on Tuesday and we talked outside her door for 20 minutes yesterday with Brother Green. We talked about church and the Book of Mormon. She is stoked to come to church next Sunday. I asked her what she thinks she should get out of church, and what she explained is what our church is perfectly :). And she was excited to receive the Book of Mormon as well. We found some potential investigators that we will be seeing this week and hopefully things can spark from that.
P-DAY AT A RALEIGH MUSEUM 6/14

Well my family, I hope that everything is going well and I’m praying for you daily! Thank you for the love and support and everything that y’all do for me. BAPTISIM & ELDER DAVID A. BEDNAR

So this email might be short, since I emailed last Wednesday ha-ha. But I’ll just jump into the main highlights! Saturday was such an amazing day! Started out with Morgan's Baptism! MORGAN & BROTHER BAGLEY
It went great. Her non-member grandparents showed up, and her dad is also a non-member and mom is a recent convert. So hopefully with Morgan being baptized will spark something in them for the future. Brother Bagley Baptized and Confirmed her. Such a great experience :) and then right after that we headed up to Durham, the whole mission did! And we got to hear from Elder David A. Bednar! WOW! What an amazing experience! We got to hear from him for 3 straight hours! And it felt like only 1 hour. But none of the missionaries were able to shake his hand or talk to him, so I never got to shake his hand or ask about Ty...but the whole 3 hours was a discussion, he asked us questions and we asked him questions. The main topic was teaching and becoming better Missionaries going off of 3 main topics...Observing, Listening and Discerning. And then of course teaching! It was great and it’s an experience that I’ll never have again. Also Elder Snow, from the Presidency of the 70 was there. And another man from the 70 I think...of just area 70...can’t remember. Elder Bednar is a great teacher and truly speaks by the power of the Holy Ghost.

So we will be meeting with the Martinez family tomorrow and hopefully be able to set some dates and get Kim and Sammy baptized! Kim is 11 and Sam is 8. And then of course hopefully this will influence the dad (ted) who is not a member. We will also be meeting with Jennifer on Wednesday night, and hopefully be able to set a date with her and get her coming to church, she didn’t show up yesterday. We found a new investigator in a cool way ha-ha. We were looking through the "former investigator" section of the area book and stopped by her house and she was there. She has been taught in the past but she got laid off from her job and moved to Rocky Mount for a year and is now back, and she came to church yesterday. And well be heading over there this week sometime and start to teach her. Brother Brown told us she did have a Baptismal date, so hopefully we can set another one ha-ha.

Well one more week of the transfer, so this Saturday aka "black Saturday" we'll find out who leaves and who stays. This transfer has gone by pretty quick. 17 months today, crazy stuff ha-ha. Well it sounded like y’all had a great trip; the day to day update was cool to read and made me SO jealous. I hope y’all got me something cool!

Well family, I miss you and hope all is well and it’s starting to get SO hot here and humid, not ready for it yet. But I love you and miss you.

GREAT TEACHING WEEK

Well everything has been going pretty good. We had a great week last week with teaching. I was able to go on exchange with Elder Condie and I learned a lot from him. We contacted a lot of people and being with him just helped me feel like a good ol’ Missionary ha-ha. The missionary who contacts everyone and embraces the awkward situations and even when people are kind of denying us we keep trying till they tell us for sure go away ha-ha. So we had fun and did work.
AHEM...COOLEST STREET EVER!

Last week we had a great lesson with Jennifer, a lady that we met and I have great feelings about her and her desire to learn more about the Gospel. Our lesson with her went amazing! And we were taught in our last Zone Conference to have a kneeling prayer with the investigator and have them offer it. And Jennifer offered the prayer and she cried at the end and the Spirit was strong! We will be seeing her on Friday night and hoping to have another great lesson. This week Latesha contacted us and let us know she was no longer interested and felt comfortable where they were going to church. So I hope they can come to know how true this message is. It’s hard to let investigators go, but the work goes on. We set a date with Morgan for this Saturday the 5th! Her interview is today at 4. We are excited for her and hopefully this will make an impression on her dad. (The mother is a recent convert in January). And had a good lesson with the Martinez family on Tuesday night while with Elder Condie, and they told us next time we come over (next Tuesday) we will set a date with them! for Kim and Sam. Kim is 11 and Sam is 8. And hopefully this will also make an impression on the dad as well who is not a member. So we are pretty much starting from the beginning right now and finding people to teach. We have a decent teaching pool but it can always be bigger. So here comes some good ol’ tracting and contacting everyone to find the elect who will receive this great Gospel.
